Mariette Marais

Mariette was born in Bloemfontein, matriculated at Meisieskool  Oranje. She qualified as teacher at the Teacher’s College in Bloemfontein.

In 1984 she was awarded her National Diploma in Fine Arts at Bloemfontein Technikon. She was appointed assistant lecturer at the Technikon and earned a permanent position as art lecturer at the technical College.

After four years in the USA,she started teaching art for children and adults, at Jacquey Theron Art school in 2010.In 2012 she participated in an international art project called The key of David, exhibited in London during the Olympics.

Jacquey Theron

Jacquey was born in the Freestate town of Bloemfontein where she matriculated in 1968 at the  Meisie School Oranje. She then enrolled at the University of Pretoria and received her BA. Fine Arts (1972) majoring  in sculpture.

She settled in Pretoria where she opened her art school in 1982. Apart from giving art lessons to adults and children, she also reached out to the needy by giving classes to Boystown Kagiso (2001- 2003) and later classes at Pretoria school for the handicapped (2005).At Nuwe Hoop school she helped the children who had brain damage due to car accidents. Since 2003 to 2014 she organized the Pretoria Eisteddfod Fine Art division.

Internationally she was commissioned to do eight busts of Presidents and Director Generals for Zambia. International paintings include the Key of David Outreach Project, London, UK, 2012. Trophies include Sappi’s Trading Sales team of the Year. (Floating Trophy)

In 2009 she was commissioned by government to do the busts of Oliver and Adelaide Thambo for the Oliver Thambo House in Pretoria.
